About Hinton's

Hinton's is the Christchurch-based cellar door of Central Otago's Hinton Estate Vineyard

Hinton's is the culmination of the vision and hard work of the Hinton family.  Based near Alexandra, the Hintons have grown stonefruit for almost 100 years and in 1997 the first vines, of what is now a 20-hectare vineyard, were planted.  The predominant variety is Pinot Noir, which is now into its fifth vintage, with Pinot Gris, Merlot, Riesling and Viogner recently released.

The idea of opening a venue to represent Hinton Estate outside Central Otago had been considered for a number of years, and finally became a reality when the venture was opened in February 2006 with Dina Hinton as its manager.  The venue consists of an 80 seat restaurant located in the property's original homestead, tasting rooms and café and garden and classic car tours.
