Wine from Hinton Estate Vineyard in Central Otago

The Hinton family are originally from Alexandra where they have grown stone fruit for over 100 years.

The first wine grapes were planted in 1997 on a hilly site ideally suited to Pinot Noir, which is the predominant variety. Since then, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Ros├ę, Gew├╝rztraminer and Viognier have been added. Learn more about Hinton Estate Vineyard.


Winemaker Howie Hinton has worked closely with several international winemakers to produce some outstanding Pinot Noirs. To compliment the Hinton Estate varieties on the wine list, Howie has personally selected a number of other wines from around New Zealand, which are available under the Hinton Hill Country label.
 

Dina Hinton opened the Christchurch venue in February 2006 and is still a very hands on manager. The venue consists of an 80 seat restaurant located in the property's original homestead, and a function venue with a Central Otago tasting room feel.

Wine tasting is available at anytime in the restaurant.
 

Single tastes are $2.50 or a tray of four is $8, and all of our wines are available at take-home prices.
